While there’s no official date yet on Georges St-Pierre’s return to the cage, we may have a better idea of when and where his return bout will take place.
Tuesday, St-Pierre sent out an Instagram post of himself at an NHL playoffs game between the New York Rangers and Ottawa Senators, which took place at the famed Madison Square Garden (home building of the Rangers).
In the caption, St-Pierre said, “I could be fighting here in a couple months… Can’t Wait!!!”

St-Pierre announced his return to the Octagon in early 2017, which was highlighted by a heated press conference with him and his future opponent, UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping. The two are expected to fight for Bisping’s title sometime in 2017.
The fight was originally expected to take place in the summer months, but rumblings suggest it could be pushed back to the fall or even winter of 2017.
With the UFC expected to return to Madison Square Garden in late 2017, the timeline could match up rather well for a St-Pierre vs. Bisping showdown at the world’s most famous arena.
St-Pierre hasn’t fought professionally since he defended the UFC welterweight title against Johny Hendricks at UFC 167 in November of 2013. Shortly after the bout, St-Pierre took a hiatus from the sport, citing the UFC’s lack of sufficient drug testing.
His return could provide a major boost to the company’s pay-per-view market with Ronda Rousey’s career in flux, Brock Lesnar’s suspension and move to the WWE, as well as Jon Jones’ well documented troubles.
What do you say, fight fans? Is St-Pierre vs, Bisping an interesting potential headliner for Madison Square Garden? Let us know on Twitter @FloCombat.
