Jorge Masvidal Slings Heat Ahead of Bout With Jake Ellenberger
UFC welterweight grinder Jorge Masvidal is sick and tired of not getting the big name and big money fights he feels he deserves.

Saturday night he will step back into the Octagon and take a step up in completion to throw hands with perennial top 15 ranked welterweight Jake Ellenberger at The Ultimate Fighter: A Tournament of Champions Finale live from The Pearl at the Palms Casino and Resort in Las Vegas.

The unranked Masvidal has respect for Ellenberger and all that he has accomplished during his admirable career including his successful run in the UFC but make no mistake, he still feels like he deserves a bigger name on a much bigger stage. Masvidal strongly believes that all of his previous UFC foes weren’t on his level and that this fight is no different.

He sees an easy money fight and a clear cut victory over Ellenberger once the dust settles.

“Jake has beaten a lot of good guys in their prime.” Masvidal said. “He has knocked them out, ended them. This fight is going to be real easy for me. I’m just going to fight. I’m going to do what I do in every fight. I am going to punch him in the face and not get hit myself. I’m going to take him down. Rinse and repeat until I am able to overcome his will.”

Once the all the talk is done and the Octagon door shuts, Masvidal feels that he will showcase his physical superiority in skill and technique over the veteran Ellenberger. He also feels that the intangibles he possesses will come into play and his indomitable warrior spirit and never say die attitude will shine though and be too much for the game and scrappy Ellenberger to overcome.

“I know at the end of the day that nobody in the sport has more will than me.” Masvidal said. “I am willing to get hit with a baseball bat and go right through it and go to my objective. I know Jake won’t. We are going to sprint as hard as we can for as long as we can and he will quit long before I ever even think about quitting. That’s what it will come down to.”

Like every available welterweight on the UFC roster, Masvidal was politicking to get the vote to secure the last minute scrap with Donald Cerrone at the landmark UFC 205 in New York City last month after repeat offender Kelvin Gastelum missed weight once again. He tried to put himself right in the mix but according to Masvidal, Cerrone wanted no part of him and chose to schedule a scrap with another lesser opponent at a later date.

“Hells to the yeah," Masvidal said. "I wanted that fight. We were scrambling to get that fight. The commission wasn’t going to let me because I didn’t have my medicals. My stuff was up to par. I’m a guy with good credit. I don’t have any diseases or illnesses to spread. My name did get brought up to Cerrone to fight me but he picked Matt Brown. It’s crazy to me. You tell the public you will fight anybody at any time and I was ready.

“Matt Brown just got assassinated. He got his life taken away by Jake Ellenberger. Of course Cerrone wants the easy fight. Cerrone is a tough dude when he gets in the cage but the question is will he get in the cage with me? God willing, if I get the win on December 3rd I would love to get my hands on Cowboy. I’m get ready to go to war. I’m ready to make America great again.”

Moving forward, Masvidal wants the toughest guys the UFC has to offer. He wants to fight all of the fighters that everyone says will beat him. He wants all the elite welterweights with the small numbers by their names. He desperately wants to climb the ladder toward a top ten appearance and eventual title shot.

From Michael Chiesa to Daron Cruickshank and everyone in between, Masvidal has already beaten everyone’s favorite Ultimate Fighters. Whether he likes it or not, Masvidal is now known as the TUF Killer.

“It’s not at title I ever wanted to brag about but it’s what I have become.” Masvidal said. “The only one I didn’t get the win over was Al (Iaquinta). Nobody in their right mind thought I lost that fight. Another Ultimate Fighter or another undefeated up and comer, it’s not what I want. I just want the best guys in the world.”
