The Ultimate Fighter Season 17 winner is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Johny Hendricks in his most recent appearance, and has found success in two of his last three showings under the bright lights. His only loss in that stretch came against Neil Magny at in the main event of TUF Latin America 2 Finale in a hard-fought affair that saw the Colorado native take the split-decision on the judges' scorecards.

While Masvidal had been experiencing a rough patch in his career, the American Top Team product recently broke out of his slump by besting Ross Pearson via unanimous decision at UFC 201 back in July. Masvidal has gone .500 since returning to welterweight last year, and a bout against one of the division's rising stars in Gastelum will be the perfect opportunity for the game veteran to make a big move up in the weight class.
