UFC Calgary wasn’t the only MMA showcase thrilling fight fans Saturday night, as Ring of Combat 64 aired live on FloCombat from The Sugar House Casino in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The New Jersey-based promotion made the best of a tough situation, as the card’s originally scheduled main event between undefeated prospect Sean Brady and Julian Lane got scrapped less than 24 hours prior to fight time.

Overcoming adversity, however, Lou Neglia’s Ring of Combat proved once again why it is one of the most respected and recognizable promotions in the United States.
MMA royalty of all sizes was present for this one. UFC veterans Frankie Perez, Pete Sell, and Dante Rivera joined the Ultimate Fighter vet Lane and UFC Hall of Famer Matt Serra in the evening’s face-punching festivities.
On the undercard, two Ring of Combat amateur titles were on the line.
The ROC Women’s Amateur Bantamweight Championship was up for grabs, as undefeated Hope Chase clashed with Despina Karavas.
The fight didn’t see the second round, with Chase finishing Karavas via strikes with just seconds left in the Round 1.
Home crowd favorite Jamie Drago made his amateur debut and immediately added the first clip to his highlight reel.
The Animals MMA product picked up the Ring of Combat Amateur Welterweight Championship, finishing Hakeif Phillips via spinning backfist in the very first round.
The evening’s main event then pinned professional middleweights Thomas Powell and Manny Flores against one another.
Sticking with the theme of spinning backfists, the underdog Powell floored Flores moments into the second round.
Flores, a Serra-Longo product, tried his best to survive, but Powell did not let him off the hook.
The referee called a stop to the bout, awarding Powell his first professional victory.
