V3Fights 69 streamed live from Memphis' Minglewood Hall Saturday, June 16, bringing UFC President Dana White and the Lookin' For a Fight crew with it. Here's what went down.
From start to finish, V3Fights delivered the type of high-level MMA action fans across the nation have come to expect.
With a main event between top lightweight prospects Joe Lowry and Zach Fears and several other high-level prospective stars on the card, all eyes were locked on V3Fights 69 Saturday evening—including White's.
The UFC President was in the building to record an episode of his show Lookin' For A Fight, and there's a good chance we'll see somebody get inked to the big show after Saturday's showcase.
At the top of the card, Lowry brought his seven-fight winning streak to the table to battle against Fears' six-fight winning streak, and the result was glorious.
The two stood toe-to-toe for the bout's duration, with each man finding his moments. Lowry dropped Fears early and largely controlled the stand-up portion of the bout, while Fears was able to briefly take Lowry's back and threaten the submission from there.
While mostly evenly matched, it was Lowry who was able to outwork his opponent in the eyes of the judges, and he took home the unanimous decision victory and the V3Fights lightweight title for his efforts.
Was it enough for White to break out the contract and offer him a spot on the UFC's roster? Time will tell.
One fight before Lowry and Fears took the stage, featherweight Bobby Moffett showcased his ridiculous finishing instinct in full.
The MMA Lab product needed just one round to get the job done, locking up a slick D'arce choke against formerly undefeated Jonathan Jackson and ending the fight. With the quick finish and the support of former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson in his corner, it's possible Moffett is staring down a massive, Octagonal opportunity as well.
Also on the card, undefeated juggernaut Puna Soriano continued to roll, knocking out James Horne in the first round, while women's flyweight prospect Tracy Cortez survived an early knockdown to submit Monica Medina in the fight's first frame.
On the amateur side, Kevin Pease remained undefeated and narrowly edged out Paul Kimble via split decision to take home the V3Fights welterweight title.
