Valor Fights brought Strikefest 2 live to FloCombat Saturday, Dec. 16, and the result was utter destruction. Full results here.
Valor Fights built a reputation as one of the most high-energy regional MMA promotions in the U.S., and Saturday night's Strikefest 2 event showcased why.
Featuring a main event between Steven New and Nate Williams and a co-main event with Bellator vet Jonathan Pearce vs. Nick Baker, this event brought the ruckus in full from start to finish.
With seven finishes in the first nine fights, the event rolled into Pearce vs. Baker, and this fight was all JSP. Coming off back-to-back wins in the Bellator MMA Fight Series, Pearce looked to make a statement against Baker at Strikefest 2 -- and that's exactly what he did.
After a dominant Round 1 that saw him drop his opponent several times, Pearce put an end to things in the second frame, polishing off a near-flawless showing with some ground-and-pound that forced the referee to intervene.
After the win, Pearce called for Bellator or the UFC to give him a shot, saying, "I need a real fight."
With three straight stoppage wins, he certainly has a case for some national attention.
In the main event, the action kept rolling, with Williams scoring an early submission over the always-game New.
After an early takedown, Williams capitalized on a scramble, locking in the anaconda choke and squeezing until New was forced to tap his way to safety.
With the slick win, Williams runs his pro record to 7-3. His choke over New marks his third straight finish via submission.
