Eric Shelton vs. Jordan Espinosa Booked For UFC Fight Night 148: Nashville
A flyweight machup between Eric Shelton and Jordan Espinosa is headed to March 23's UFC Fight Night 148 in Nashville.
For now, the UFC continues to book flyweight matchups. Already housing Jussier Formiga vs. Deiveson Figueiredo, FloCombat has learned UFC Fight Night 148 in Nashville just gained a second bout in the men's 125-pound division.
Eric Shelton vs. Jordan Espinosa has been booked for the March 23 event and will be announced officially by the promotion in the coming days, sources tell us.
A veteran of five fights in the UFC, Illinois’ Shelton has proven to be a tough test for any opponent placed in his way. Despite owning a 2-3 promotional record, Shelton has faced top-tier tests in his short UFC career, including Alex Perez, Alexandre Pantoja and Jarred Brooks.
In his last outing, the 28-year-old American Top Team product defeated Joseph Morales via split decision.
While Shelton will be making his sixth appearance inside the UFC’s Octagon, his opponent, Albuquerque’s Espinosa will be making his long-awaited UFC debut.
A two-time winner on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, Espinosa was scheduled to make his first Octagon walk back in November. Unfortunately, an injury forced him out of his bout against Mark De La Rosa and put him on the shelf for a few weeks.
Now finally ready to compete on the biggest stage possible, Espinosa will look to bring the same exciting style which he displayed on Contender Series when he finished Nick Urso and Rilley Dutro.
