At 34 years of age, longtime Australian regional veteran Callan Potter (17-7) is finally going to make his UFC debut.
A veteran 24-fights, Potter is stepping in for the injured Alex Gorgees against Jalin Turner (7-4) at UFC 234 in Melbourne next month, multiple sources confirmed to FloCombat.
Nicknamed “The Rockstar,” Potter has slowly become one of Australia’s most popular regional competitors, fighting the who’s who on his home continent. A former lightweight champion of Valor Fight, Hex Fight Series, and Eternal MMA promotions, Potter has competed professionally since early 2011.
Riding nine wins in his last ten outings, Potter will have a tough test in his UFC debut when he collides with the surging up-and-comer Turner.
A veteran of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, the 23-year-old Michael Bisping protege has shown a lot of potential as of late. After defeating Max Mustaki on this past season of the Contender Series, Turner accepted a late notice bout against Vicente Luque in his UFC debut. The bout was conducted at 170 pounds, and Turner was knocked out in vicious fashion.
