Curtis Blaydes vs. Justin Willis In The Works For UFC Nashville
A heavyweight matchup between Curtis Blaydes and Justin Willis is in the works for UFC on ESPN+ 6 in Nashville.
March 23's UFC Nashville fight card might be getting a little bigger.
Adding to the excitement surrounding a potential Stephen Thompson vs. Anthony Pettis matchup, the UFC is angling to pair top-10 heavyweights Curtis Blaydes and Justin Willis for the event, multiple sources confirmed to FloCombat.
Most recently losing the UFC Beijing headliner to Francis Ngannou in November, Blaydes will look to get back to his winning ways. The 27-year-old Illinois native is still widely viewed as one of the top heavyweights in the world.
Holding wins over Alistair Overeem, Mark Hunt, and Aleksei Oleynik, Blaydes could throw himself right back into title contention with a win over “Big Pretty."
American Kickboxing Academy's Willis has also impressed in UFC tenure thus far. The 31-year-old big man has defeated all four challenges placed in front of him in UFC career.
After wiping out James Mulheron in his UFC debut, Willis went on to defeat Allen Crowder, Chase Sherman, and Mark Hunt, leading to the showdown with Blaydes.
