Damir Ismagulov vs. Alex Gorgees Slated For UFC Fight Night 142: Adelaide
A lightweight tilt between Damir Ismagulov and top Australian prospect Alex Gorgees is targeted for UFC Fight Night 142 in Adelaide, Australia.
M-1 Global Lightweight Champion Damir Ismagulov (16-2) will compete on the UFC Fight Night 142 fight card in Adelaide after all.
Multiple sources informed FloCombat Ismagulov will face off against surging undefeated Australian Alex Gorgees (7-0) at the Dec. 2 event.
Editor's note: The event technically falls on Dec. 2 local time in Australia but will air Saturday, Dec. 1, in the U.S.
Ramen Chokehold’s Wombat Jones was the first to mention the likely possibility of Ismagulov vs. Gorgees coming to fruition.
Seems as we are only a few days away from me covering #UFCAdelaide for @FloCombat I thought I better put in my 2 cents.

I have done my best detective work and all signs point towards rising young star Alex Hitman Gorgees as Damirs opponent. https://t.co/yByqdDBsIX#sydneyslap https://t.co/hMCseDvrw2
Earlier this month, Ismagulov signed with the UFC to replace the injured Ross Pearson against Joseph Duffy. Within days of the signing, Duffy withdrew, citing an injury of his own.
The 27-year-old Kazakhstani has won 11 straight fights entering the clash with Gorgees.
Quickly ascending the regional ladder, Gorgees is thought by many to be the future of Australian MMA.
The 23-year-old fighter will only have five weeks between fights, as he last competed Oct. 26 for Hex Fight Series. That night, the 6’2” lightweight defeated Raphael Scott by unanimous decision.
