Gavin Tucker vs. Andre Soukhamthath Slated For UFC Moncton
An exciting bantamweight clash between Gavin Tucker and Andre Soukhamthath has been added to UFC Fight Night 138 in Moncton.
An exciting bantamweight clash has been added to the UFC’s return to Canada.
Sources close to the situation have confirmed with FloCombat that Canada’s own Gavin Tucker (10-1, 1-1 UFC) will drop to 135 pounds to take on Andre “The Asian Sensation” Soukhamthath (12-6, 1-3 UFC) Oct. 27 in Moncton.
Tucker most recently competed against Rick Glenn at UFC 215 last September. The Newfoundland native entered his clash with Glenn as a heavy favorite. Despite the odds, Glenn battered Tucker for three straight rounds, breaking multiple bones in the Canadian’s face.
The fight was so one-sided that many in the fight community viewed the lack of a stoppage as extremely controversial. Tucker will hope to erase any memory of the September bout when he moves down to the UFC bantamweight division to take on Soukhamthath.
Rhode Island’s Soukhamtath, meanwhile, has had a rough go in his promotional career thus far. To his credit, however, the former CES MMA bantamweight champion has faced four very tough opponents in as many outings.
The 29-year-old fighter has gone 1-3 in his UFC tenure, with two of those losses coming via razor-thin split decision. Prior to losing to Sean O’Malley at UFC 222 this past March, Soukhamthath picked up his first UFC victory late last year against Luke Sanders.
It’s safe to say both men will look to get back to their winning ways on October 27 in Moncton.
