Jon Jones Opens Up On Struggles & Healing, Promises Epic Comeback
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones opens up on his healing and recovery process on Instagram.
Jon Jones is far from done.
The former UFC light heavyweight champion's career contains peaks and valleys aplenty. He became the youngest UFC champion ever in March of 2011, destroying Mauricio "Shogun" Rua via third-round TKO to earn the title.
From there, he defended his strap eight times before getting stripped for violating the UFC's Athlete Code of Conduct policy.
Jones returned to defeated Ovince St-Preux at UFC 197, earning the interim 205-pound belt in the process, but he was again stripped after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs prior to a scheduled rematch vs. Daniel Cormier at UFC 200.
After USADA confirmed a tainted sexual enhancement pill to be the culprit in that case, Jones returned after a yearlong suspension to defeat Cormier via TKO at UFC 214 July 29, 2017.
With the win, Jones moved to 2-0 vs. Cormier and got his title back—but another twist would soon come.
Jones tested positive for turinabol following the victory and was stripped for a third time of his 205-pound title.
Altogether, the rollercoaster ride has created heaps of speculation and discussion regarding Jones' career. His skills and his fighting instinct are unmatched. His decision making outside the cage, however, has created a storm of controversy.
Sunday, one year to the date of his victory over Cormier at UFC 214, Jones opened up on everything via Instagram.
Jones' return to action is not formalized yet, but if this post holds true, the best from "Bones" is yet to come.
