UFC Utica: Jose Torres Says He's Justin Gaethje Of 125
Jose Torres compares himself to exciting lightweight Justin Gaethje after a successful debut at UFC Fight Night 131 in Utica, New York.

In the first round of his UFC debut, Jose Torres was dropped by a Jarred Brooks spinning backfist.
But the second round proved to be more fruitful for the former Titan FC dual champion, as he picked up the knockout victory on a slam gone wrong by his opponent.
Torres is one of a kind in his style—certainly one of a kind in this finish. His comeback was not unlike another UFC star; a point not lost on "Shorty."
“I’m the Justin Gaethje of the flyweight division,” Torres said after the fight. “I have to get dropped. I have to have a bloody nose or something.”
Similar to his analog, the pain and adversity isn’t something he goes looking for, but it always gets him going nonetheless.

“It wasn’t the way I wanted it," Torres said. "But I’m glad I came back; that’s my fighting style."
Although he always felt in the fight, the strike that dropped him may have had more of an effect than Torres initially realized. While at first he thought it was just a straight, Torres was surprised to find out it was another of Brooks’ spinning strikes.
“Was it a spinning backfist?” Torres asked. “Damn, I guess I was hurt by it… He caught me. It was one of those things that I knew he caught me, but it wasn’t like I was out.”
Surprised or not by the strike, Torres said he felt confident in the comeback. Even though it wasn’t exactly as he envisioned, the second-round finish was what he called ahead of time.
Now, Torres looks to climb the ranks at the same rate as Gaethje did last year.
