Dana White, UFC 'Working Right Now' For Georges St-Pierre vs. Nate Diaz
Georges St-Pierre might face Nate Diaz Aug. 4 at UFC 227, according to UFC President Dana White.
Georges St-Pierre vs. Nate Diaz might happen in 2018.
What a time to be alive.
According to UFC President Dana White, the UFC is actively working to arrange the bout—and it would mark new territory for the Canadian legend if it comes to fruition.
"We are working right now to try to put together a Georges St-Pierre vs. Nate Diaz fight," White said during a recent episode of the UFC Unfiltered Podcast. "It is true, and they would fight at 155 pounds."
The longtime UFC welterweight champion most recently captured the middleweight title at UFC 217 in November, defeating Michael Bisping via submission. He soon after relinquished the belt to tend to some health issues, but it appears he's nearing a comeback, this time at lightweight.
According to White, St-Pierre's return could come as soon as August.
"It might be [Aug. 4 in] LA. In my perfect world... [TJ] Dillashaw vs. [Cody] Garbrandt, GSP vs. Diaz would be the co-main, [Alexander] Gustafsson vs. [Luke] Rockhold, and [Derek] Brunson vs. Antonio Carlos Junior."
While White confirmed Gustafsson vs. Rockhold is currently being targeted, he noted it would not be for the interim title as some had speculated.
