Mirko Cro Cop Signs With Bellator MMA, Fights Roy Nelson At Bellator 200
Legendary heavyweight Mirko Cro Cop signed with Bellator MMA and will face Roy Nelson in a rematch at Bellator 200.
Welcome to Bellator, Mirko Cro Cop.
What a sentence, eh?
Bellator officials today announced the legendary Croatian will fight Roy Nelson on May 25 at Bellator 200 in London's SSE Arena.
The heavyweight tilt joins a stacked card featuring a middleweight title fight between champ Rafael Carvalho and challenger Gegard Mousasi, a light heavyweight matchup between Phil Davis and Linton Vassell, and a welterweight scrap between Michael Page and David Rickels.
The fight between Cro Cop and Nelson is a rematch of their UFC 137 affair in 2011, which Nelson won via third-round knockout. Since that time, however, Cro Cop found his groove once more, going 9-1 with nine finishes after leaving the UFC. During that stretch, Cro Crop largely competed in Japan under the Rizin banner.
Nelson, meanwhile, is 7-9 since his loss to Cro Cop, most recently losing to Matt Mitrione at Bellator 194 last month. It's worth noting, of course, Nelson fought the likes of UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, former UFC heavyweight king Fabricio Werdum, Alistair Overeem, and Mark Hunt during that 16-fight run.
Now, Nelson and Cro Cop will lock 'em up once again, this time under the Bellator banner. MMA in 2018 rules, y'all. What a time to be alive.
