DIllon Danis Wants Bellator Debut Against 'Easy Fight' Douglas Lima
Grappling star Dillon Danis wants an 'easy fight' against Bellator MMA welterweight champion Douglas Lima.
Dillon Danis is shooting for the stars.
The Brazilian jiu-jitsu wizard signed with Bellator MMA in March of 2017, but his professional MMA debut isn't finalized.
If the grappling ace gets his way, however, his debut will be anything but ordinary.
"It really doesn't matter to me [who I face], honestly," Danis said during a recent episode of Submission Radio. "I'm 24 years old, so I'm going to fight everybody anyway.
"Honestly, I was thinking it'd be really cool to fight the champion in the first fight. I was thinking like, Douglas Lima. I really, really, really think that Douglas Lima would be an easy fight for me. I really think so. I feel that on the ground I would play with him. That was what I was thinking."
Lima is 29-6 in his professional career, winning his last three fights and eight of his last nine. During that stretch, he's notched six knockout victories and a title defense. He will face Rory MacDonald at Bellator 192 in January.
While Danis wants his shot, he acknowledges the fact that maybe it's a little ambitious at this stage in his career. Maybe.
"But, I mean, I gotta listen to my coaches too and make sure that I go on the right path, because I'm not in this just for two or three fights," he continued. "I'm in this to be the best in the world. So, I just gotta listen to the people I have around me, but I honestly think Douglas Lima would be an easy fight."
