UFC featherweight king Max Holloway is a happy champion.
The 25-year-old Hawaiian has inked a lucrative new deal with the UFC for multiple fights, which will kick off with his upcoming title defense against Frankie Edgar at UFC 218 in Detroit on Dec. 2.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but according to Holloway's manager, Brian Butler of Suckerpunch Entertainment, the reigning featherweight champion was completely satisfied with his new contract.
"Negotiations went well with the UFC and we were always confident that they were going to take care of us," Butler told FloCombat on Wednesday in an exclusive statement. "The timing of it all had more to do with logistics on their end and just trying to get the time to sit down together and get it all done.
"Max is very happy and excited to get back in the Octagon and defend his belt on December 2 at UFC 218."
Following his TKO win over Jose Aldo in June to claim the featherweight title, Holloway expressed his desire to sit down with the UFC to hammer out a new contract.

The title fight victory over Aldo also marked Holloway's 10th consecutive victory overall in the featherweight division as he ran roughshod over numerous contenders at 145 pounds en route to the championship.
Holloway and his manager met with the UFC just recently, and the featherweight champion sounded hopeful that they would reach an agreement on a new deal.
"The meeting went super well. Like I said before, I had no doubt in the UFC," Holloway said. "I love this company. They always find a way. They figure a way to make stuff happen. I think we're super close."
It turns out, Holloway was right on the money as the UFC came through on a new contract to secure the featherweight champion's services for several more fights.
He will now turn his focus on defending the belt as he faces the always resilient Edgar in Detroit. The New Jersey native has notched back-to-back victories, with his most recent win coming in a one-sided drubbing against highly touted Yair Rodriguez at UFC 211 back in May.
