Anderson Silva Calls Out Nick Diaz For Rematch
Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva calls out Nick Diaz for a rematch.
There are few things that make clear sense in the UFC middleweight division these days and Anderson Silva is looking to throw some logic in with the chaos.
In a weight class that currently has two champions, no clear contenders and a former title holder who can't seem to book a fight (Here's to you Luke Rockhold), "The Spider" isn't interested in waiting around for things to materialize. Silva knows the fight he wants next and it should come as no surprise he's targeting former opponent Nick Diaz for a scrap per an Instagram post on Sunday night.
Diaz hasn't competed since their first meeting at UFC 183 in January of 2015 where Silva's unanimous decision victory was overturned to a no contest after both men failed post-fight drug tests. The Stockton native also doesn't compete in the middleweight division, but that's just a minor detail and a hurdle that can be cleared should Diaz decide he wants to put his Las Vegas club residency on hold and get back to doing what he does best.

While the aftermath of their first fight was a trainwreck, the actual bout came with plenty of entertainment. The former middleweight king and former Strikeforce champion engaged in a closely contested affair which saw Diaz throw an all-time classic taunt where he literally laid down as if stretching out on a couch in the middle of the Octagon. Silva would get the better of the exchanges, but there was enough there to run things back if need be.
Silva also needs a good matchup in order to turn things around in the final chapter of his career. The legendary knockout artist has found victory just once in his past six outings inside the Octagon and this is a drastic shift for a man who was all but invincible during his seven-year reign as UFC middleweight champion.
