Amanda Nunes' Sister Issues Statement On Fighter's Condition
UFC women's bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes will still fight Valentina Shevchenko per post from sister.
To say Amanda Nunes had a rough go on Saturday would be an understatement.
The reigning UFC women’s bantamweight champion was forced to withdraw from her scheduled tilt with Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 213 due to medical issues suffered during her attempt to regain weight lost during her weight cut. If that wasn’t bad enough, UFC President Dana White hit a few media stops to throw his champion under the proverbial bus by saying Nunes was cleared to fight, just simply didn’t feel like it.
Nevertheless, the bout against Shevchenko was scrapped and fight fans disappointed, but the Nunes camp appears to be holding strong despite the negativity. In a message posted to Facebook, Amanda’s sister Vladdirine reported the champion will return to 100 percent and graciously thanked everyone for their support.
Nunes’ sibling also shed some light on the road ahead by revealing the scrapped bout with Shevchenko is already in the process of being rescheduled.
