Conor McGregor is off to box Floyd Mayweather on Aug. 26 in Las Vegas. This we know as fact.

What we don't quite know is whether or not the Irish superstar will ever again lace up the four ounce gloves to make a return to the Octagon. McGregor stormed the biggest stage in mixed martial arts on a four year run that saw him rise from obscurity to become a two-divisional champion. The Dublin native became the biggest draw in the sport, smashed records and claimed king of the mountain status in the process that included a defeat nestled in with a slew of dominant victories.

Yet, with a massive payday attached to the biggest fight in combat sports history he is a part of against Mayweather, the speculation looms as to what would ever motivate McGregor to return to the rigors of an unforgiving sport. In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani (h/t Marc Raimondi on transcription) John Kavanagh, McGregor's coach at SBG Ireland, shared his thoughts as to why he believes "Notorious" will indeed return to the UFC.

"I don't see any reason why he would not," Kavanagh said. "Certainly money would not be the reason why he would not do MMA again. He has said very clearly to me, 'Get ready, we're back in the cage in December.' I hope someone out there has sparked the interest in him to make him excited about that."
