Anytime there is someone making things happen there is a team behind the scenes clearing the way for big things to unfold. On the current landscape of mixed martial arts there is no bigger than Conor McGregor. Not even close.

The Irishman has risen from poverty to riches on the strength of a four year blitz where McGregor hijacked the fight game with brash-talk and a remarkable, almost eerie sense of follow through. That has led the Dublin native to bigger showcases and stages each and every time out and opened the door for a mega-fight that makes no sense, but at the same time, so much sense it just feels right.

After conquering the UFC, the SBG Ireland leader decided to jump over to boxing to face pound-for-pound great Floyd Mayweather, and once again it took a strong team behind him to make the fantasy fight a reality. Leading that team is McGregor's manager Audie Attar and FloCombat caught up with the super agent of the moment this past weekend in New York City.

During the interview Attar addressed the Mayweather vs. McGregor deal getting done, his personal philosophy and much more.

Getting the mega-fight deal done

"It feels great, man. It's like winning the title. It's my own belt, but there's nothing like getting to the actual fight and seeing our guy go in there and shock the world.

"It's like anything else. I think you have to have a vision. You have to set goals and really dream about what you want to and then go out and work for it. I think it's no different, whether it's athletics or business, it's the same thing.

"I think that's just a credit to all the different stakeholders coming together and having a meeting of the minds. I think you can't deny when the fans are starting to rumble about the potential to fight, and in the day and age of social media, you have different indicators you can look at. When you see that type of interest, it'd be foolish for any businessman to turn his cheek and walk away. Credit to all the stakeholders recognizing that potential, coming together, and it starts really with both fighters. Both athletes have to want to compete against one another. That was there, and the rest is history."

Outside of truckloads of money, Conor and Floyd wanted this fight for personal reasons

"I'll tell you, I think what fueled it for both is the competition. It's initial banter, it went back and forth, then it's like, 'I could school you. I could school you.' Naturally, when economics start to play into it and the fans want to see the fight, yeah, that's a big part of it. But I would say it starts with the purity of competition. People really lose sight of that. These guys wouldn't go in there if it wasn't a challenge for one another in their own respective ways. So they're each looking at this as a true competition, and they're the ultimate competitor."

Former UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta's involvement in getting deal done

"I think he [Lorenzo] was instrumental at the beginning of it to just bring the different parties together to sit down and have a conversation. Sometimes these things, they cause the sides to dig in their own positions or not talk or what have you. Sometimes it just needs some dialog, and I think that was an important step for this to get done."

The power of positive thinking

"I think it's infectious, it's contagious, and I think it's just something that I know our team subscribes to that type of thinking and that way of living, if you will. A lot of our clients are the same way. Really, it's just dream big and go out and work for it. Anything is possible, but it doesn't just happen by dreaming it. You gotta go out and work for it."
