3 Reasons To Watch Fury FC 17
Fury FC 17 emanates from the Shrine Auditorium in San Antonio, Texas Saturday night (June 10th, 2017) at 6pm EST live on FloCombat.  UFC veteran Roger Narvaez headlines the card against undefeated Antonio Jones for the promotion’s vacant 185-pound title, while an interesting welterweight matchup pits LFA vet Nikolay Veretennikov against Washington Luiz in the co-feature. Here are three reasons to watch.

Navarez’s road back to the UFC continues

Roger Navarez looks to make it two in a row when he battles “Doomsday” Antonio Jones for the promotion’s vacant middleweight title. Navarez (8-2) is coming off an impressive first-round knockout victory over Juan Torres at Fury FC 14, his first win since being released from the UFC. “The Silverback” went 1-2 in the octagon, earning a win over Luke Barnatt while suffering setbacks to Patrick Cummins and Elias Theodorou. The Corpus Christi native will have the home crowd on his side as he looks for his seventh career stoppage victory. Jones (5-0) made his professional debut in 2015 and has won three of his five career fights by stoppage.

The 32-year-old is coming off a split-decision nod against Ike Villanueva at Fury FC 15. It’s a classic veteran versus prospect matchup, where the winner could catch the eye of one of the bigger promotions.

Kazakhstan vs. Brazil in the co-main event

Nikolay Veretennikov looks for his fifth-straight win when he takes on Brazil’s Washington Luiz. Veretennikov (4-2) has won four of his last five fights by stoppage, including a third-round TKO victory over Clovis Hancock at LFA 7 in March. The 27-year-old competes for Fury FC for this third time in his career and looks to avoid his first loss since 2014. Luiz (3-2) makes his North American debut and heads into this matchup off a knockout victory over Bruno Berce at IFC MMA Combate in September.

The 35-year-old made his professional MMA debut in 2012 and has competed his entire career in Brazil. The winner of this matchup could inch closer to a Fury FC welterweight title shot.

Roy aims for Redemption

Katherine Roy looks to avoid back-to-back losses for the first time in her career when she battles Kenia Rosas in a strawweight affair. Roy (1-1) is perhaps best known for being jiu-jitsu sensation Mackenzie Dern’s last opponent, in a matchup which she lost via unanimous decision. It should be noted that fight was contested at a 120-pound catch weight due to Dern missing the 115-pound limit. The 32-year-old went undefeated as an amateur (2-0) as she looks for her first professional win on American soil. Rosas (0-1) is also coming off a loss to Dern at Legacy FC 58 in December, where she also came up short losing by unanimous decision.

The 20-year-old went 3-2 as an amateur, including a win over top strawweight Bi Nguyen at Fury FC 4. A win for either fighter could land them a contract with either Invicta FC or LFA.
