Stipe Miocic And Joanna Jedrzejczyk Have Record-Setting Night In Dallas
At a time when the UFC is in desperate need of star power two of the promotion's champions showed up strong on the biggest night of the year thus far in 2017.

Reigning heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and women's strawweight juggernaut Joanna Jedrzejczyk both scored massively impressive performances in their respective bouts atop the stacked card at UFC 211.

The Cleveland native punched his way into the record books by knocking out former champion Junior dos Santos to earn his second successful title defense, which ties him with four other men who previously held the strap. In doing so Miocic also avenged one of the losses on his record as he took a hard-fought decision loss to "Cigano" in late 2015. Miocic ate a few laser leg kicks in the early moments of the bout, but once he turned on the gas the heavy-handed champion put his challenger away with force.

Furthermore, not only was Mioicic's victory at UFC 211 a historic moment, but also further proved his place as king of the heavyweight ranks. He already owns victories over Fabricio Werdum and Allistair Overeem, which puts both men in a strange spot where title contention is concerned. Strangely enough, Miocic's title defense in Dallas most likely sets up a bout with former champion Cain Velasquez, who has been on the outs with the UFC since being forced from his bout with Werdum at UFC 207 due to the Nevada State Athletic Commission refusing to clear him.

Velasquez's most recent win came against Travis Browne back at UFC 200 last July, but his unique set of skills makes him an interesting stylistic matchup for Miocic. The bout should also hold appeal for Miocic as well, as toppling Velasquez would leave no stone unturned in his mission for total divisional dominance.

And in that regard, Jedrzejczyk has already earned that mantle.

The Polish phenom put a merciless beating on challenger Jessica Andrade over the course of 25 minutes in Saturday night's co-main event to make her fifth consecutive successful title defense. The American Top Team product counter struck with great success in the early rounds, then applied her signature pressure with laser precision and speed to baffle the Brazilian in the later frames.

With the win, Jedrzejczyk tied superstar Ronda Rousey for the most wins in UFC title fights with six, and outside of a resurgent Rose Namajunas, title challengers are looking thin in the 115-pound ranks.

That's just how dominant "Joanna Champion" has been, and it's been something amazing to watch unfold.
