3 Reasons To Watch Sioux Falls Fight Night 1
Official preview for Sioux Falls Fight Night 1 live from the Sanford Pentagon on FloCombat.
Sioux Falls Fight Night 1 emanates from the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota this Saturday night live on FloCombat. Here are three reasons to watch.
A number of notable MMA veterans compete on this event including former UFC fighters David Michaud, Jake Lindsay and Daniel Sarafian while TUF 15's Dakota Cochrane was added as a late replacement. Michaud (10-3) and Lindsay (12-6) headline the card against each other in a welterweight matchup where the winner could find themselves back in the UFC. Michaud used to train in Sioux Falls before moving to Arizona and joining The MMA LAB, so expect a big reception for "Bulldawg." Sarafian (9-6) competes for the first time since his UFC release when he battles RFA/Bellator veteran Austen "Corndog" Heidlage in the middleweight division. The 34-year-old will be looking for his first win since December 2014.
Cochrane (27-11) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to EJ Brooks on April 14th at Victory FC 56 which snapped his four-fight win streak. The Victory FC welterweight champion looks to bounce back against hometown favorite and RFA veteran Jordon Larson. Expect nothing short of fireworks for all of these combatants as they look to get back to the big show.
In the co-main event Sidney Bice looks to inch once step closer to a UFC contract as he battles longtime RFA veteran Cody Land. Bice (6-1) lone blemish on his record was a close split decision loss to UFC vet Pedro Nobre at Titan FC 38 last April. Perhaps the 27-year-old's biggest enemy has been inactivity as he's fought just three times since 2015. The Winner, South Dakota native, who now lives and trains in Colorado at the prestigious Factory X gym, has won half of his fights by stoppage and has been widely considered to be one of the top flyweight prospects on the regional circuit.
Land (14-8) fought all the way back at RFA 2 in March 2012 and will be looking for redemption as he heads into this matchup off back-to-back losses. The 26-year-old trains with Dakota Cochrane in Omaha, Nebraska and looks for his first win since September 2015.
Did we mention this card is stacked with blue chip prospects too? Logan Storley, Tyler Ray and Deron Winn all look to make an impact Saturday night in their respective matchups. Storley (4-0) has a decorated wrestling background that includes being a six-time high school state champion, a four-time NCAA Division I All-American wrestler at the Univeristy of Minnesota. The 24-year old has made a seamless transition to MMA going a perfect 4-0 (all finishes) and all under the RFA banner. The Webster, South Dakota native (same hometown as Brock Lesnar) now trains in Florida at Combat Club with renowned striking coach Henri Hooft. He takes on NSC vet Andreas Murray who is 2-0. Ray makes his professional mixed martial arts debut against Ben Simons, a veteran of Dakota FC.
The 24-year-old is a former hockey player turned fighter, and trains with Storley at Combat Club. Winn (1-0) competed a two U.S. Olympic Trails for wrestling where he finished fourth and takes on Deven Fisher. He was introduced to MMA from UFC champion Daniel Cormier and trains at Dethrone Base Camp in Fresno, California with Josh Koscheck, Chris Honeycutt, Ed Ruth. The 27-year-old made his pro-debut back in March live on FloCombat where he defeated Mike Morales in 28 seconds at Conquer Fighting Championship 3.
