Mackenzie Dern Improves To 3-0, Gets Called Out By Andrea Lee At LFA 6
BJJ superstar Mackenzie Dern improved her MMA record to 3-0 at LFA 6.
Brazilian jiu-jitsu megastar Mackenzie Dern continued her ascension toward MMA fame Friday evening at Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) 6, defeating Katherine Roy via unanimous decision.
Throughout the fight, Dern showcased impressive strides in her standup, controlling the action and pushing the pace on the feet for three rounds. Her world-class ground game was also on display during Round 2, when she mounted Roy for a significant portion of the frame. While she couldn't find the finish, Dern flashed her impressive top control once the fight did hit the mat and briefly looked for a triangle choke to no avail.
Twitter user Jolassandra captured some of the action.

The win moves Dern to 3-0 as a professional mixed martial artist and, perhaps more importantly, one step closer to the esteemed UFC Octagon.
During the recent #FCRoadTrip, Dern told FloCombat she wanted to join the UFC's roster by "June or July" of 2017, meaning her fight against Roy would likely be her last on the regional level should her wish come true.
However, a point of concern for Dern and her team moving forward will be her weight cut. Fighting in the strawweight division (116-pound non-title fight limit), Dern has missed weight twice in three fights. Against Roy, she competed at a catchweight of 120 pounds, needing two weigh-ins to hit that mark.
The UFC does not currently promote a women's flyweight (125 pounds) division, but they do have strawweight, bantamweight, and featherweight classes. Dern would seemingly either need to compete at 135, where she would likely be undersized at 5'3", or correct her weight-cutting issues and successfully hit the strawweight mark.
Interestingly, LFA flyweight champ Andrea Lee called out Dern following the fight:

For now, though, Dern continues to impress on the local scene. Stay tuned to FloCombat as news of her next step emerges.
