Tony Ferguson Shows His Class After UFC 209 Fight Gets Scratched
Tony Ferguson speaks out after his fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov is scratched from UFC 209
What a 24-hours it's been for Tony Ferguson.
After making championship weight this morning, Ferguson learned that his scheduled opponent Khabib Nurmagomedov had been hospitalized and subsequently deemed unfit to fight tomorrow at UFC 209.
After ruling out taking a late notice replacement fight, Ferguson then took the time to address the fans after the UFC 209 weigh-ins at the T-Mobile this afternoon.
Ferguson was obviously feeling the raw pain of disappointment due to the last minute cancellation, but he still managed to find some classy words for Nurmagomedov and the rest of the fighters on the UFC 209 card tomorrow.
“I thought it was a nightmare, man,” Ferguson said. “Something worse than El Cucuy. It was just some sh*t that he had to go through, this happens in the fight game. No disrespect to the UFC or to Khabib. Everything happens for a reason.
This is a fighter’s sport, man. So I want every single one of you to give love to the UFC and give love to Khabib. And I really want you guys to buy this pay per view, because the rest of the f*cking card is amazing.
“Stay awesome. I appreciate you guys following me on the way to victory. I love every f*cking one of you.”
