EuroFC Cancels 2017 Schedule, Expects 2018 Return
One of the fastest rising promotions in Europe has decided to pump the brakes in the new year and focus on growth in 2018. EuroFC officially announced the cancellation of its 2017 schedule per a release sent out by the organization on Tuesday.

EuroFC is a partner of FloCombat and was building toward its next event slated for Feb. 11 in Prague, Czech Republic.

The card featured a stacked lineup of international talent and was set to be one of the truly diverse mixtures of established names and rising talent as could be found across the mixed martial arts landscape. With that event and another scheduled date in Copenhagen, Denmark, slated for later this year now nixed, Euro FC will need to adjust their focus for the road ahead.

EuroFC CEO Jarno Kukila understands news of his promotion's change of direction may come as a shock to passionate MMA fans and fighters alike, but insists the move was necessary to ensure the mission the organization set out to accomplish upon launch.

Kukila cited growth as the catalyst for cancelling the year to focus on the next.

"European Fighting Challenge (EuroFC) has decided to postpone the scheduled Prague (February 11th, 2017) and Copenhagen (May 6th, 2017) events.

EuroFC's plan from the beginning has been to build an All-European sports entertainment brand an grow the market by making the sport of mixed martial arts more easily approachable and mainstream.

"During 2016 we have learnt that our mission needs more funds and time than expected. We haven't been able to capitalize the brand momentum in fundraising, sponsorship or event sales and we now need to re-think our approach", states the Chief of Operations, Oscar Eklöf.

The renewal of strategy and organization starts immediately and means also that the CEO Jarno Kukila has stepped down effective January 16th, 2017. Mr. Kukila will continue in operative management focusing on fundraising, international sales and product development.

EuroFC aims to re-start the event operations in early 2018."

Details are then given as to how customers who have already bought tickets for the event in Prague can obtain refunds.

The promotion debuted last year in October in Espoo, Finland, with a card headlined by Tom Niinimaki and Jonathan Brookins. It was then expected to follow up with its second show next month in Prague and had even gone as far as announcing the entire lineup of fights.

As of yet, no further details have been released regarding whether the fighters booked for the show will receive compensation. We have reached out to the promotion for further details and will update our report in due course.
