Mark Godbeer Set to Debut in Belfast Against Justin Ledet
Former BAMMA heavyweight champion Mark Godbeer will make his UFC debut against Justin Ledet at UFC Fight Night 99 on November 19.
It didn't take long for new UFC signee Mark Godbeer to be handed his first assignment.
The former BAMMA heavyweight champion will make his UFC debut against Justin Ledet at UFC Fight Night 99 in Belfast, Northern Ireland on November 19.
Godbeer (11-2), fights out of Bridgwater, Somerset, and was the 265-pound champion of British promotion BAMMA before signing his UFC contract. He won the BAMMA title back in June 2015 at BAMMA 21: DeVent vs. Kone when he defeated Paul Taylor via TKO in the second round. He then went on to defend his title once at BAMMA 25: Champion vs. Champion when he defeated Stuart Austin, again via TKO.
Godbeer was expected to feature on the Bellator 158: London event in July, however, he opted to stay off the card and not fight his scheduled opponent, James Mulheron, following a falling out with the organization. That low point in Godbeer's career was shortly followed by his biggest high when he signed with new management company Duello Sports Management under Gokhan Yildizli and was called by the UFC to join their heavyweight division.
His first opponent will be Ledet (7-0), who made his own promotional debut last month at UFC Fight Night 92: Caceres vs. Rodriguez. That evening, Ledet beat Chase Sherman via a unanimous decision and continued his unbeaten record with his seventh straight victory.
Having made his debut in Salt Lake City, the Houston-based Ledet will make his way across the pond to Northern Ireland to take on the British heavyweight champion.
UFC Fight Night 99 will take place at the SSE Arena and will be headlined by a five-round welterweight bout between No. 12-ranked Gunnar Nelson (15-2-1) and No. 10-ranked Dong Hyun Kim (21-3-1).
