It occurred half way through that round as the two moved towards the fence. Out of nowhere, Kalamov threw his body through the air and wrapped his legs around the head of his foe. After a light adjustment of the position, the Russian pulled on the on the back of Mustnek’s neck to create the pressure and constrict the blood flow from the carotid arteries to the brain.
The hold was obviously too much for Mustnek to handle. Before passing out, the Kazakhstani tapped the mat to signal his submission and in doing so, he handed Kalamov the victory.
The fight between Magomed Khamzaev and Taichi Nakajima finished in controversy as the Japanese man was denied a clear stoppage in the first round of the fight. Nakajima appeared to win the fight when he sent the Russian crashing to the mat as he hit him in the midsection with a stiff body kick to the liver.
