Paige VanZant Says She Would Love A WWE Run
After eight months away from the UFC Octagon, Paige VanZant makes her return this evening against Bec Rawlings in an important matchup in the strawweight division.
During her time away from competitive mixed martial arts action, VanZant has received plenty of mainstream media attention thanks to a successful run on the popular American show 'Dancing With The Stars'.
Despite her time away from the cage, VanZant has become one of the most well-renowned faces in the UFC and the opportunities for her outside MMA are already beginning to stack up.
Speaking to John Pollock's MMA Report earlier this week, VanZant revealed she had turned down several opportunities including a role in an upcoming film called 'Kickboxer' so that she could focus on her fight with Rawling's.
"My management was super supportive and understood," VanZant said. "They knew I had two opportunities [fighting or the film] and that I just needed to pick. I told them what I wanted and they 100% supported me. We know that other opportunities will come and that it's not the only one I will get. We will take advantage of the next one."
One of the big opportunities that could present itself down the line is an appearance in the WWE. Not a week seems to go by at the moment without a collaboration of some sort being talked about between the UFC and the WWE, and VanZant revealed she would be keen to give pro wrestling a try at one point in the future.
"I believe they [WWE] reached out to my management," VanZant said. "That'd be something I'd love to eventually venture into. I've always been a big fan of the WWE. They're a huge organization and a very successful organization. It'd be great. There have been lots of successful crossovers from Brock Lesnar going back and forth and now CM Punk coming over, it seems like a successful match up and it seems like I would fit really well in that area."
VanZant then revealed she had been a fan since her childhood, and that she has a lot of admiration for pro wrestlers.
"I am a fan and I've always been a fan," VanZant said. "I think it's a really cool sport and to see how athletic they have to be from some of the stuff they do it's really cool."
