The UFC 202 weigh-ins dominated the headlines yesterday but before all that could get underway, the Marquee Ballroom in the MGM Grand hosted a UFC 204 pre-fight press conference with both halves of the UFC middleweight title main event taking to the stage.
Champion Michael Bisping and challenger Dan Henderson fielded questions from the present media for over forty minutes though throughout they had difficulty making themselves heard about a boisterous Irish crowd who were awaiting their hero later that afternoon.
In typical fashion, Bisping didn't make best of friends with the Irish contingent and managed to draw loud boos and jeers upon answering his first question about what life was like as the UFC middleweight champion.
"Life is good," Bisping said with a big smile on his face. "I'm the champ, people call me 'champ' and it feels good, I'm not gonna lie."
For some reason, the answer prompted boos from the audience and Bisping responded the only way he knew how.
"Shut the f*ck up," Bisping said. "I'll give you something to boo. When I knock this a*shole out, you can f*****g boo that. Sit down. Quiet down, guys, we've got a press conference."
After putting the crowd in their place, Bisping's focus turned to Henderson and the champion made it perfectly clear why he thought he lost their first fight at UFC 100.
"UFC 100 was a long time ago and I recently watched that fight back and I cringed watching it, it was a terrible performance," Bisping said. "God bless Dan Henderson, he got the job done that night. As we all know he was cheating. He was on testosterone replacement therapy, but yet he's still fighting now.
"He is a marvel of a modern science. The guy is cured. His testosterone levels remarkably came back up and he's still able to continue. Him and Vitor Belfort, check these guys out, it's amazing what their bodies have done.
After making it perfectly clear he believed Henderson's prior success was down to performance enhancing drugs, Bisping outlined just exactly how he planned to exact revenge in his hometown of Manchester, England on October 8.
"I want to beat this guy, he knocked me out," Bisping said. "it was good, but Dan Henderson couldn't beat Anderson Silva. Dan Henderson couldn't win a UFC title. Dan Henderson is famous for one thing.
"I made you, Dan and after UFC 204, that will be eradicated."
