Joe Rogan: 'Jon Jones is Just a Wild Motherf******'
Joe Rogan sounds off on the recent drug-test failures of Jon Jones and Brock Lesnar.
Joe Rogan may have signed a new one-year extension with the UFC, but that doesn't mean he's going to hold back his views on either the company or the fighters on the current roster.
Speaking earlier this week on the UFC Unfiltered podcast hosted by Matt Serra and Jim Norton, Rogan discussed a number of challenging issues the UFC is currently dealing with, and one of the topics he addressed was Jon Jones' recent USADA citation.
"Jon Jones is just a wild motherf*cker, that's what I think," Rogan said. "I think that's one of the reasons he's so go*damn good, and he's a wild dude. I think he likes to party, I think he gets crazy, and I think he makes bad decisions sometimes when he's doing those things.
"I think that's exactly what we are looking at. I think Jon has made some pretty critical errors in his life, and I think this is a big one. Whatever the f*ck he took or why he took it--I don't know. I've heard all sorts of speculation."
Despite recognizing Jones was making his own reckless lifestyle choices, Rogan noted Jones wouldn't be the only one punished should he receive a two-year ban. Rogan believes the fans will also miss out by not seeing one of the sport's most decorated athletes perform in the best years of his career.
"It's super unfortunate because it's happening to one of the most talented guys ever in his prime, and we are going to remove him from the sport for like two years," Rogan said. "When he comes back--oh f*cking Christ, man--all the sh*t that he's got to deal with, and the pressure and the stress--you saw the pressure when he fought Ovince Saint-Preux.
"Then the financial drain of taking away his ability to make a living during the prime of his career. There are so many things that are happening to him right now that are just really, really unfortunate."
Rogan then briefly talked about estrogen blockers—which Jones tested positive for—and a greater problem within the industry: tainted supplements.
"Some have speculated that was because he was on steroids, and this is what he took to get his system back in order, but who f*cking knows, man? The problem is all these go*damn supplements that people buy from GNC, like 'Muscle Build 5000,' and these things that they sell at vitamins stores--a lot of these things have f*cking steroids in them--a lot--a lot."
Rogan then gave his thoughts on the other fighter cited for failing a USADA-administered drug test around that time, Brock Lesnar. The UFC color commentator also sympathized with Lesnar's opponent at UFC 200, Mark Hunt.
"Well [Hunt] definitely should be legitimately pissed because the guy f*cking cheated," Rogan said. "I thought Brock fought a great fight--Brock's a f*cking gorilla, man. When you are around that guy, you realize just how big he is--he's f*cking huge, he really is.
"He's enormous man, and he's such a freak athlete, and he popped for exactly the same thing that Jon did. His situation is a little weirder, though, because you look at him, and you go, 'Come on, that guy is f*cking clean?!' When you saw him in the WWE, he was even bigger and he looked fantastic. I think he's 38 now, so it's mostly likely he was doing something and he got caught."
