The fight game by its very nature is a brutal sport. Men and women step into a cage and sling leather with the worst of intentions, but there are those who have shown a capacity to go beyond. We are talking about next level violence, and here is a list of the top 5 ruckus bringers to ever compete in mixed martial arts.

5. Chuck Liddell

What hasn't been said about the UFC's original poster child. Everything from the handlebar mustache to the mohawk to the crowd pleasing knockouts, Chuck Liddell personified everything we loved about the early days of the Zuffa owned UFC. While he had a more than capable wrestling skillset, 'The Iceman' never looked for anything more than a slugfest. He wanted to send his opponent's head into the upper deck with every strike thrown and when he finally did connect, much to the delight of the crowd, there was little doubt his opponent would go crashing to the canvas.

4. Gilbert Yvel

Violent for the sake of being violent. There are few men in the history of combat sports that strike as much terror into the hearts of fight fans as 'The Hurricane.' With a tattoos covering almost every inch of his body, this Dutch striker certainly looked the part of a bloodthirsty maniac. It didn't help that he had a reputation of being one of the dirtiest fighters in the business, which includes needlessly attacking referees. It seemed Yvel was never truly happy unless he was mercilessly battering his opponent to oblivion.

3. Mark Hunt

The true definition of one punch knockout power, 'The Super Samoan' has proven time and time again that even though he's one of the older fighters on the UFC roster he's still the strongest. Just take a look at Stefan Struve's jaw after one of Hunt's vicious left connected or Antonio 'Bigfoot' Silva's blood soaked brow after spending 25-minutes in the Octagon with Hunt. Combine this iron-clad jaw and Hunt is pretty much the last person anyone should wish to see locked inside the cage with them.

2. Melvin Manhoef

Violence personified. That is the only way 'No Mercy' can be described. With absolute lightning at the end of every limb to go along with deadly accuracy, witnessing Monhoef perform inside the ring is a thing of beauty. But what's even more terrifying is the fact he seems to enjoy seeing his opponent's unconscious body strewn across the canvas. With 27 of his 29 career wins stemming by way of knockout, including 24 coming within the opening frame, I can only pray for the man standing across from this Dutch powerhouse as their night is sure to end in a trip to the hospital.

1. Wanderlei Silva

You don't get a name like 'The Axe Murderer' unless you've claimed a few scalps along the way   Whether it be a soccer kick, a foot stomp or a well placed knee between the eyes, Silva only had one thing in mind: the utter decimation of the man standing across from him. Never one to back down from a fight, Silva's thirst for blood often backfired as fans saw the Brazilian's eyes rolling into the back of his head, blood dripping down his face as often as they witness his opponent face down on the canvas. He was the definition of 'kill or be killed' and for this reason alone, he will forever hold a place of honor in the hearts and minds of fans.
