The Dublin native’s ascension to the top of the fight game has been nothing short of meteoric. His dethroning of long-reigning featherweight king Jose Aldo cemented his place at the forefront of the UFC’s promotional machine. Nevertheless, a submission loss at the hands of Nate Diaz in the second round of their tilt at UFC 196 last month served to slow his momentum.
While McGregor pondered a return to the division he champions in the aftermath of his first loss inside the Octagon, his focus quickly turned to redemption as a rematch with the Stockton bad boy was slated as the main event for the organization’s historic UFC 200 show on July 9 in Las Vegas.
Although it’s yet to be confirmed whether or not McGregor’s tweet has substance behind it, rumors have circled for the past year regarding his tension with UFC brass at the negotiating table.
McGregor's coach John Kavanagh issued a cryptic tweet of his own.
