Since the bout between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor was announced the world has waited patiently.
The boxing great and UFC champion are slated to square off at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on 8/26, and the anticipation for not just the fight, but the back-and-forth trash talk that is sure to be exchanged as well. On Monday afternoon in Los Angeles, the verbal and mental portions of the fight got underway at the opening chapter of their four-city promotional tour for the boxing vs. MMA mega fight. And man was it a good one.
The "Notorious" one has built a reputation for being full of charisma and vitriol at media events and Monday's stop in L.A. was no different. In classic McGregor fashion he went right at the pound-for-pound great and the fireworks were flying in no time.
We've captured the highlights and lowlights alike and they are posted below for your reading pleasure.
"Baby we did it."
"I couldn't hear anything those motherf*ckers said. Thank f*ck.
"Somebody's '0' has got to go. He's in a f*cking track suit. He can't even afford a suit anymore. He's f*cked. There's no other way about it. His little legs and head. I'm gonna knock him out inside four rounds. Mark my words. I always said I would rise up and be in association with. I'm a young confident and happy man. I've worked very hard work for this.
"I can do what the f*ck I want up here."
"He'll be unconscious inside four rounds. The movement, the power, the ferociousness...he's not experienced this. I don't fear him. This limited set of rules is half a fight. If it was a real fight it would be over inside one round. "
"No one's done this shit before. You have to give me that."
"Twenty one is the number. They say 'Why is twenty one the number?' That's how long I've been kicking ass. I don't give a f*ck if it's a ring or an Octagon.
"You already know I'm not b*tch made. You line them up and I know them down like bowling pins. Come Aug. 26 I'm gonna knock this b*tch out.
"He can look good for a seven figure fighter. He can look good for an eight-figure fighter, but motherf*cker I'm a nine figure fighter. This b*tch made three million his last fight. We know that's training camp money for me.
"I want to thank Dana White and Conor McGregor for helping make this fight because it takes two warriors to bring an event like this together. I didn't do this by myself. [Conor] did a lot to make this fight, but on Aug. 26 that's your ass."
"Mr. Tapout likes to quit and you will waive that white flag. And I guarantee it and you can pick which way you are going out. On your face or on your back. You just show up and I'll do the rest."
After Mayweather holds up a check he says is for $100,000,000
McGregor: "That's to the tax man."
Mayweather: "You're right. I'm the IRS and I'm gonna tax your ass."
McGregor: "You aren't gonna do sh*t."
