Shamrock FC took over the Ameristar Casino in Kansas City Saturday evening for a night of MMA mayhem—and the fighters didn't disappoint. Here's what went down at the show.
In the main event, undefeated Mizzou wrestler and American Top Team prospect Johnny Eblen threw down vs. 3-1 Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt and LFA veteran Tyler Lee.
Lee—who posted a 2-0 record under the esteemed LFA banner and a 5-1 record between his pro and amateur runs—figured to represent the toughest test of Eblen's young career.
...Eblen didn't care.
From the jump, the ATT product pushed the pace, landing hard shots on the feet and forcing Lee to shoot for a takedown.
Bad idea.
Eblen shucked it off, ended up on top, and went to work, putting in a Khabib-Nurmagomedov-esque showcase of ground-and-pound for the fans in attendance.
After about a minute of punishment, Lee had enough and tapped out from the strikes, moving Eblen's pro record to 4-0 with four first-round stoppages in the process.
It remains to be seen where Eblen goes from here, but there's no doubt his next fight will be a big one. If you weren't already paying attention to his career, you are now.
"I’m gonna be in the UFC soon—or Bellator. Keep following me," Eblen said in his post-fight speech.
Will he make it to that big stage, or will he stumble?
We're about to find out, making Eblen's journey a major storyline as we move into 2019 and beyond.
