Four titles were on the line at Cage Wars 34 -- and the action didn't disappoint.

One of the most hottest amateur MMA promotions in the northeast region returned Saturday, Oct. 21 on FloCombat, as Cage Wars entertained New York MMA fans with the stacked Cage Wars 34 fight card.

The phenomenal night of fights featured four (yes, four) title fights headlined by hot featherweight prospects Chris Disonell (8-2) and Matvei Skvortsov (6-2).

The stadium was rocking from the opening bell, as both fighters met in the center of the cage. While Round 1 was close, technical standup affair, the bout became a barnerburner in Round 2. A vicious Skvortsov head kick dropped Disonell, who appeared to be in serious trouble before his heart and grit shined through. Disonell survived to see a second round, a reward for the fans in attendance and at home, because Round 3 was an absolute slugfest.

Both men chucked serious leather, but Disonell’s heavy hands finally became too much for Skvortsov. With Skvortsov covering up against the cage, the bout was waived off in round 3, crowning Chris Disonell your new Cage Wars Featherweight Champion.

The co-main event of the evening also delivered, as bantamweights Mike Martinez (4-0) and Nequoyah Sethi (2-5) threw down. Each man entered the contest with the hopes of walking away the Cage Wars Bantamweight Champion. Only one man could add this accolade to his trophy case, though, and on Saturday night that man turned out to be the 20-year-old Martinez.

Following an immediate takedown at the start of the fight, Martinez scored a nasty triangle submission, halting things in short order. Notching gold at such a young age, the sky is the limit for this kid going forward.

In the night’s lightweight title fight, undefeated combatants Kenny Gordon (3-0) and Rob Coman (2-1) squared off against one another. Gordon clearly didn’t come to play around, as he made short work of a very tough opponent.

Right from the get-go, Gordon came out swinging. Looking to score a double leg takedown against the cage, Gordon picked up Coman over his head and landed a highlight-reel slam. From there, it was obvious that Coman was in trouble. Gordon mounted Coman, pummeling him with strikes from the top, leaving the referee with no option but to stop the bout.

Earlier, in the evening's first title bout, welterweights Benjamin Horton (4-5) and Chris Buckley (3-1) laid it all on the line. Defense was not in either man’s game plan, as both fighters came out guns-a-blazing.

Each fighter got his licks in on the other, but it was Buckley who would land the most devastating blow. A huge shot early signaled the beginning of the end for the stunned Horton, who was taken down by Buckley and pounded out.
