A battle of top prospects headlines an action-packed night of fights at Fury FC 18.
After a last minute shake up a new main event was slated for Fury FC 18 on Saturday night Humble, TX.
Jake Heffernan was expecting to get a shot at the spotlight in the co-main event slot, when UFC veteran Bubba McDaniel's fight fell out, the undefeated prospect's tilt against Colin Wright was moved up to headline the card. And while Heffernan had looked impressive in his four previous showings, the more experienced Wright was figured to provide the perfect litmus test to where the up-and-coming talent's skill set currently rest.
Although Wright provided a tough matchup, Heffernan ultimately rose to the occasion and took a hard-fought victory on the judges' scorecards.
Heffernan closed the distance strong in the opening frame and kept the action in close quarters throughout. Even though there wasn't a ton of clear cut action during the three-round affair, Heffernan's hip tosses and top pressure were too much for Wright to overcome. The end result was a strong victory for the highly touted prospect, and will serve to further the growing buzz around him.
