Brock Lesnar Is Back In USADA Testing Pool, Eligible To Return In January
Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar is officially back in the USADA testing pool after confirming his intention to fight again.
Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar is officially back in the USADA testing pool after confirming his intention to fight again this past weekend in Las Vegas.
USADA officials confirm ed on Monday that Lesnar gave them notice to return to the drug testing pool on July 3 after previously announcing his retirement from the sport following his last fight at UFC 200 in 2016.
USADA officials confirmed the news to FloCombat on Monday.
"After receiving notice of his intent to compete in the UFC, USADA re-entered Brock Lesnar to the testing pool on July 3," USADA officials said in a statement. "With six months and four days remaining on his period of ineligibility, Lesnar will be able to compete on or after January 8, 2019, should he remain in compliance with the UFC Anti-Doping Policy."
Lesnar was previously suspended by USADA for one year after he tested positive for Clomiphene — an anti-estrogen medication that's banned in athletes — surrounding his fight against Mark Hunt at UFC 200.
At that time, Lesnar opted out of the USADA program after informing the UFC of his retirement, which paused his suspension as well because he was no longer being tested.
Lesnar made his return to the UFC this past Saturday night where he faced off with new heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier following his win over Stipe Miocic at UFC 226.
UFC president Dana White later confirmed Lesnar's return to action with plans to match him up against Cormier as soon as he's eligible to fight again.
Now it's official that Lesnar can book his next fight in the UFC on or afterJan. 8, 2019, which will then set him up for the showdown with Cormier.
Lesnar will be tested randomly by USADA like all UFC athletes and assuming he runs into no other issues, he will be eligible to return next year.
