Daniel Cormier, Alexander Gustafsson Trade Shots On Twitter
UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier returns fire on Alexander Gustafsson via the magic of Twitter.
Daniel Cormier will face Stipe Miocic at UFC 226 on July 7 in a hotly anticipated champion versus champion matchup, but he may have another scrap brewing as well.
Alexander Gustafsson, the No. 1-ranked contender at 205, took to Twitter on Tuesday evening to take a shot at Cormier.
Dc u talk about the blachowicz fight?! What about when “someone” predicted the left kick and still u fell for it..

Clearly, the Swedish standout is none too happy with Cormier's decision to leap out of the light heavyweight division to test the UFC heavyweight champion in his next outing.
The problem, of course, is that Gustafsson is ramping up the heat after Miocic vs. Cormier is signed, sealed, and delivered. They will coach season 27 of "The Ultimate Fighter," then they will fight July 7. That's happening. What Gustafsson says now will not affect those plans.
It's a point Cormier recognizes, and he hammered that home with a zinger of a response.
Damn alex, like that? Too late bud, this the shit you should have been saying before the fight was made. Now chill before I beat ur face in again pretty boy! https://t.co/Okm0hEW6qt

We gotta go 10-9 Cormier on this one, folks. Gustafsson has a point — Jones did blatantly call out Cormier's tendency to duck into the left high kick, and "Bones" exploited that in their UFC 214 matchup to earn the TKO victory.
But this is a game of timing and counters, and Cormier played his hand perfectly, even dropping a "bud" in his response for good measure.
Classic DC.
