Rose Namajunas won't be returning to the Octagon anytime soon, but the newly crowned strawweight champion believes she knows who her next fight will be against. According to "Thug Rose," she'll step into the Octagon with the same woman she took the strap from in Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

Namajunas stunned the fight world when she steamrolled Jedrzejczyk en route to a first-round TKO finish at UFC 217 back in November. The Milwaukee native's victory was one of the biggest upsets of the year and marked a career high point for the once-embattled star.

And while Namajunas doesn't plan to return to the cage in quick fashion, the strawweight titleholder believes her first defense will come against the American Top Team product.

Namajunas spoke to MMA Junkie backstage at UFC Fight Night 124 on Sunday night where she discussed her projected road ahead and why she's confident Jedrzejczyk will be the first opponent in her title reign.

“Yeah for a different number of reasons,” Namajunas said. “I think that’s definitely the fight that people want to see, but I’m open to fighting anybody so we will see.

“I’ve got some traveling coming up later this month, so I was thinking at least until spring just, you know, have some date in spring or summer,” Namajunas said. “Maybe, April through July, we will see. I’m open, pretty open.”

One of the dominant storylines heading into their first fight was the intimidation tactics Jedrzejczyk attempted to use at every promotional turn. The stone-cold Polish killer taunted and attempted to torment Namajunas, who held an ice-cold demeanor in response.

The end result saw Namajunas unleash the fury and hand Jedrzejczyk the first loss of her professional career in brutal fashion.

“I never really took anything personally,” Namajunas said. “Even after the fact. That was just what she needed to do and that was her best strategy to beat me and it didn’t work, and it’s still not going to work.”
