Thiago Alves vs. Zak Cummings Scrapped From St. Louis Card
The scheduled bout between Zak Cummings and Thiago Alves has been scrapped due to an injury suffered by Cummings.
Zak Cummings won't be squaring off with Thiago Alves this weekend in St. Louis.
News surfaced Friday night that Cummings had suffered an unfortunate mishaps which led to an injury that will prevent him from facing Alves on Sunday night. According to Cummings, a slip on the floor during his weight cut led to the fighter cracking his head off a rail. While the extent of the injury wasn't revealed, it was obviously bad enough to force Cummings out of the fight with the former title challenger.
Cummings was extremely upset with the turn of events, and lashed out at a fight fan who questioned the situation on social media.
I’m absolutely fucking devastated right now. This one of the best cuts I’ve ever had and slipped while moving from the tub to the ground and cracked my fucking skull on a handrail. I’ve missed most of my 3 months olds entire life! You disgust me

With less than 48 hours until the event, Alves will be pulled from the card as well.
This is unfortunate news for Alves as this marks the second-straight scheduled bout that failed to materialize in the latter stages leading up to fight night. The Brazilian veteran was slated to face Mike Perry at UFC Fight Night 116 back in September, but the impending threat of Hurricane Irma led to Alves choosing to remain with his family in Florida.
