FloCombat has confirmed with sources close to the organization that a heavyweight matchup between former NFL player turned undefeated mixed martial artist Austen Lane and veteran knockout artist Ben Rowland is official and will serve as the main event for Warfare 18.
Both men will come into the bout with flawless records intact, and someone's "O" will have to go on fight night.
After spending five years playing in the NFL, the former Jacksonville Jaguar transitioned into MMA, where he's been nothing short of a wrecking machine. Lane competed five times as an amateur and captured all five victories by way of knockout — all of which happened inside the opening frame.
Lane made the jump to the professional ranks in 2017, scoring brutal knockouts in all three of his trips to the cage last year. Lane also continued the trend of not allowing his opposition to see the second round, with his total amount of cage time as a professional coming in at a combined 2:13 of work.
Lane won his professional debut in April with a 14-second knockout, then turned around and leveled Jonathan Miller in 20 seconds at Combat Night Pro 3 just three months later.
While Lane has built a strong buzz in a short window, Rowland has plenty of hype surrounding him as well.
The hard-hitting heavyweight has won all four of his showings as a professional and has also finished each of his opponents within the opening round. Rowland has picked up the heavyweight title for both Premier MMA Championships and Warrior FC, and he'll be looking to add an enormous feather to his cap at Warfare 18.
Much like his upcoming opponent, the 41-year-old Kentucky native Rowland has been carving out a path of destruction as of late, and the two juggernauts' paths will cross on the shores of Myrtle Beach in what promises to be one of the best heavyweight matchups outside of the two major organizations in the sport.
The event will stream live exclusively right here on FloCombat.
