Conor McGregor Apologizes For Bellator 187 Actions -- Sort Of
Conor McGregor takes to Instagram to offer a heartfelt apology for his actions after Bellator 187.
Conor McGregor would like to apologize... to absolutely almost everybody.
Sort of.
Taking to Instagram, McGregor offered up a lengthy post explaining his recent actions at Bellator 187 in Dublin, Ireland.
At the event, McGregor jumped into the cage to celebrate with teammate Charlie Ward, who defeated John Redmond via first-round knockout.
Chaos ensued.
McGregor put hands on both referee Marc Goddard and a Bellator employee, actions which got McGregor booted from the event.
Apparently, McGregor's behavior also got him removed from Dec. 30's UFC 219 fight card, according to Mike Mazzulli, the Association of Boxing Commissions president and combative sports director of the Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation (h/t Ariel Helwani's MMA Hour).
On Tuesday, McGregor apologized.
The fight McGregor refers to here is Ward vs. Joao Carvalho, which took place April 9. In that fight, Ward defeated Carvalho via third-round TKO. Carvalho was transported to a hospital immediately after the event and later passed away due to head injuries suffered in the fight.
While that line has merit, the part McGregor seems unapologetic for is the actual physical altercation with Goddard (Gonard?).
McGregor's official punishment remains to be seen, but overall, this feels like a step in the right direction for him getting back on track with the powers that be.
