Former WWE Champion 'Jack Swagger' Signs With Bellator
Former WWE Champion 'Jack Swagger' has signed with Bellator MMA and will compete in their heavyweight division in 2018.
Jake Hager, formerly known by his ring name "Jack Swagger" in the WWE, announced Monday on The MMA Hour that he has signed with Bellator MMA to compete in its heavyweight division. Hager is a former WWE World Heavyweight champion and U.S. champion and will be making his mixed martial arts debut with Bellator.
More importantly, he was a standout wrestler at the University of Oklahoma. He set the single-season record for most pins in a season with 30 in 2006. Also, as our own Damon Martin pointed out, Hager was in the same 285-pound bracket as Cain Velasquez, Cole Konrad, and Steve Mocco during the 2006 NCAA tournament.
The 35-year-old is set to make his MMA debut in 2018 — no word on an opponent or date just yet. Watch the full interview below:
