Conor McGregor Speaks Out After Bellator Incident
UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor tweets a response to backlash over Bellator incident then deletes it.
Conor McGregor is no stranger to kicking up dust across the mixed martial arts landscape, but the Irish superstar took his exploits to an entirely new level at Bellator 187 in Dublin on Friday night.
The UFC lightweight champion was in attendance at 3Arena to watch his friend Charlie Ward compete against John Redmond. While this particular bout wasn't one of the showcased matchups on the card, the McGregor-led melee that occurred after Ward knocked out Redmond dominated headlines around the sport in the aftermath.
"Notorious" lived up to his famous nickname as he first stormed the cage to celebrate with Ward, then shoved referee Marc Goddard and one of the commissioners in attendance. Simply put: pure bedlam unfolded at Bellator 187, and McGregor could very well find himself in hot water because of it.
After spending the weekend getting blasted on social media platforms for his actions, McGregor took to Twitter to offer his response to the backlash. The SBG Ireland native deleted the original tweet moments after posting, but Reddit user "holycowitschris" caught a screen grab of McGregor's tweet before its removal.
