Frankie Edgar Injured And Out Of UFC 218 Main Event Against Max Holloway
Frankie Edgar is injured and out of the UFC 218 main event against featherweight champion Max Holloway
Frankie Edgar will have to wait for his chance to compete for the featherweight title after suffering an injury in training that will force him out of his upcoming fight against Max Holloway at UFC 218.
Sources close to the situation confirmed the news to FloCombat on Wednesday following an initial report from Combate in Brazil.
With Edgar injured that leaves Holloway without an opponent with just over three weeks to go until the event takes place on Dec. 2 in Detroit.
UFC officials have made no statement regarding the fight or whether or not a replacement will be secured to face Holloway in his first defense of the featherweight title.
Edgar earned the fight with Holloway following a pair of impressive wins, including a lopsided victory against highly touted prospect Yair Rodriguez back in May.
As for Holloway, he's fresh off his title fight victory against Jose Aldo in June, but now it appears he'll be waiting anxiously to find out if he'll still get to fight at UFC 218 or not.
