UFC 217 Results: Georges St-Pierre Submits Michael Bisping, Wins Belt
Georges St-Pierre submits Michael Bisping to win the UFC middleweight title at UFC 217.
Georges St-Pierre is back -- and he might be better than ever.
The former longtime UFC welterweight champion and pound-for-pound legend submitted Michael Bisping in Round 3 of their UFC 217 tilt, winning the middleweight title and re-establishing himself as a dominant force inside the UFC Octagon.
The fight broke down statistically like so:
It wasn't flawless, though. St-Pierre took some powerful shots from Bisping, and his face showed it. After scoring a takedown in Round 2, St-Pierre ate elbows from the bottom courtesy of Bisping, opening up a cut that spewed blood over the canvas.
Undeterred, St-Pierre kept his composure, blasting Bisping with a left hook that set up the eventual finish.

His ground-and-pound was ferocious after dropping Bisping, but it was a quick transition to the rear-naked choke during a scramble that sealed the deal.
With the win, St-Pierre moves to 26-2. He has won 13 straight contests inside the cage. His next step remains uncertain for now, but there's no doubt it'll be massive whether at 170 or 185.
