Bellator 186: Ed Ruth Scores Brutal KO In Penn State Return
Rising Bellator star Ed Ruth notched a memorable victory in his return to Penn State at Bellator 186.
Coming home is a special thing, and Ed Ruth found a way to make it an even sweeter experience.
The former three-time NCAA Div I national champion wrestler turned mixed martial artist returned to the campus where he forged his legendary career as Bellator 186 went down at Penn State University on Friday night.
During his time in Happy Valley, Ruth built of the best collegiate wrestling resumes in NCAA history, and the athletic phenom has wasted little time ramping up hype in the MMA world as well. Coming into Saturday night, Ruth had won all three of his showings inside the Bellator cage via finish, with all but one of those victories coming in the opening round of the tilt.

Ruth kept that trend alive at Bellator 186 as he destroyed Chris Dempsey with a brutal knockout punch in the opening frame.
The hometown hero had a raucous crowd on his side as he entered the cage, and the same contingency went even crazier when Ruth leveled Dempsey with a big shot to bring an abrupt halt to the fight.
With the win, Ruth has now earned four straight victories and will put himself on the radar for a future title opportunity.
