WATCH: Gegard Mousasi's Controversial Win Over Alexander Shlemenko
Former UFC contender turned Bellator debutant Gegard Mousasi earned a controversial decision victory over Alexander Shelmenko.
The eyes of the mixed martial arts community were on Gegard Mousasi as he made his Bellator debut on Friday night.
While the 32-year-old middleweight faced a tough assignment in former champion Alexander Shlemenko at Bellator 185 in Uncasville, CT, many figured Mousasi would breeze through his first test in the promotion after exiting the UFC on a five-fight winning streak. Wrong.
Mousasi came out strong in the opening round, but a shot from Shlemenko from top position swelled one of the touted striker's eyes completely shut. It looked as if the doctor was going to call the fight; however, the physician decided to let the action continue.
Mousasi fought the final 10 minutes with one eye, and many on social media believe Shlemenko did enough to defeat the former Strikeforce champion and perennial title threat.
Mousasi would go on to take the fight in a controversial unanimous decision that left some viewers baffled by the judging result.
Take another look and see if Mousasi did enough to earn the win at Bellator 185.
